What’s in a name, And why we changed ours

We recently decided to rebrand our company and change our name. So I thought it only appropriate to go over a little of the background of how we came up with our original name, and why we decided to move away from it.

Back in 2007, home from my first tour of college, a great friend and myself decided to start a business remodeling homes. I'm not sure how we landed on the name, but we ended up with JBH Specialty Construction (JBH are my initials of course). For the next 7 years, we worked countless nights and weekends remodeling homes and businesses in the Miami Valley. We did everything from room additions, to kitchens and baths, to constructing new decks. Some of these projects took weeks, even months to complete. We wanted to move toward projects that were not so demanding of our time, as both of us were working full time in addition to the remodeling company. We decided we were going to move away from some of the larger remodeling projects, and move our focus to projects that would help our customers reduce their energy consumption. We started offering energy star window and door replacement, insulation services, LED lighting upgrades, and dabbling in HVAC work. We wanted to make sure our name was in line with our work, and thus JBH Energy Solutions was born.

Around 2016, I stumbled upon an online forum of heating and air pros. From there, my eyes were really opened to the world of heating and air. My passion for the trade grew by leaps and bounds the more I learned about it. The more material I consumed, the more I fell in love with the trade. I then decided I wanted to move the business more towards heating and air service and installation. At first I thought the name was appropriate, as I could offer more efficient units to customers. As the years moved on, and the more time I spent looking at our logo and name, I just didn’t love it anymore. Looking only at our logo, you wouldn’t know what our primary focus was. So the decision was made yet again to change the name so it would more accurately reflect our primary service.

With the help of my little sister who specializes in graphic design, we came up with a new logo design. We believe, with nothing more than a quick glance at our logo, people will know we are a heating and air company, and that was our primary focus.

While our primary focus is on the heating and cooling industry, that does not mean we are letting our years and years of experience in the construction and remodeling industry go to waste. We routinely find ourselves helping advise our customers on energy smart upgrades around their homes and business. We even have software in which we can help show potential savings of projects such as upgrading windows, or installing insulation, even though we no longer provide those installation services. At our core, we love saving money, and helping people find ways to do that. So we will always offer our help and expertise whenever we can.

For right now, we really like the new logo and name, so we think we will keep it around for a while!
